Princess Odua |
Barring any last minute changes or maneuverings Nigeria’s embattled aviation minister Princess Stella Odua will be attending her last (FEC) Federal executive council meeting this Wednesday as indications emerged that President Goodluck Jonathan has asked her to resign to save His Administration.
Several ministers, special advisers, special assistants and top party chiefs advised that she should go now so as not to bring more damage to the big picture (2015 presidential elections) Sources say that her remaining in the cabinet will further bring down the already battered image of the present administration.
President Jonathan is sad that one of “His top performers” will have to be sacrificed and made a scapegoat but as it stands He has no options. With 2015 fast approaching, the President is not leaving anything to chance. This will provide an opportunity for Him to prove that he abhors corruption. Nigeria civil aviation authority (NCAA) an agency under her ministry allegedly on the orders of the Minister bought two armored 2008 BMW 760Li HSS for $1,6M about N255M for her official use. Sources say the street value of the 2 cars cannot exceed N100M.
She was said to have pocketed almost $1m as kick back from the deal, which involved the NCAA, FIRST BANK and COSCHARIS group.
Another source said that she will be quizzed by economic and financial crime commission (EFCC) in an arranged manner to further create such impressions that the administration is fighting corruption. She has pleaded with the President to let her go in peace without EFCC harassing Her in any guise.
She meets brick wall everywhere she turns to
Having called and visited those who have the ears of the President including the first lady, She was simply told to throw in the towel as the Party is battling with several issues one of which is the G-7 Governors and the APC challenge, recall that weeks back, Gov Amaechi (G-7) of Rivers accused her of abandoning the remodeling of Port Harcourt international airport due to issues He has with the President.
