Peoples Democratic Party governorship
aspirant in Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, has on behalf of members of the party in
the state apologized to President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife Patience for
what he tagged the unwarranted insults heaped on him by Governor Rotimi
Amaechi.
The former minister of state for
education spoke on Monday when he visited the party secretariat in Port
Harcourt to inform the state executive of his governorship aspiration.
Wike also used the opportunity to
respond to a number of allegations made against him by governor Amaechi.
He said and we quote, “If he says he
does not have psychiatric problem, let him come public and let psychiatrists
come and test him. So that we will check whether he has psychiatric
problem. Because nobody that is sane or normal will behave the way that
person behaves.”
He said he has had enough of the
insults and accusations and now Nyesom Wike has decided to hit back.
According to Mr Wike, “Amaechi said
that EFCC is not working, the same Amaechi that said that EFCC is not working,
when EFCC comes here, he said that there’s a court injunction against EFCC.
“We have the document to prove to him
that he is stinkingly corrupt”. “I challenge him, let him come to a public
debate and I’ll tell him how corrupt he is.”
Responding to allegations of
corruption, Wike challenged the governor to come out with proof. He stays in
corruption when he has corruption written all over him.
“You’re talking about somebody is a
thief, you made a thief your chief of staff, you made a thief your DG of
campaign, you recommended a thief to be a minister, who’s a bigger thief? He is
not only financially corrupt, he is also morally corrupt, traditionally.”
Like Wike, another person who has come
under attack from Governor Rotimi Amaechi is President Goodluck Jonathan. Some
of the criticisms are that the president has not done anything for his people
but Wike disagrees.
“Amaechi said the FG does not want him
to give water, what a shameful thing in life. Every project Amaechi budgets for
money for water. For the past 7 years, it is now you know that you are looking
for loan. The former commissioner of finances is here, we can show it to him.
All the money that was appropriated to him for water, where is the water?’’
The president’s wife has also not been
spared. ''The man said the problem he has with the president’s wife is
that he does not want to share money with her.’’ ''Now let me tell you
something that also tells you his level. In our tradition we don’t insult
people’s wives.''
If Jonathan is a president or not, he
is your elder brother by age and by whatever. You cannot talk to his wife that
way. Furthermore that he is the president of the federal republic of Nigeria.
The same man who is talking about sharing money which is not even correct, ask
him the N35 million the wife was collecting from every local government to
build ESM where is the money coming from? Is it Amaechi’s money or his family’s
money?”
While apologising to Nigerians
President Jonathan and his wife, Nyesom Wike pleaded with them not to take the
unwarranted insults to heart as Rotimi Amaechi will soon vacate the government
house and the PDP governor will be voted in to rewrite all the wrongs.
