The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Tuesday, said it
has gathered sufficient evidence to warrant the prosecution of wife of
former Governor of Bayelsa State, Mrs. Alayingi Sylva, on allegations of
corruption.
The anti-graft agency made the disclosure on a day the embattled
erstwhile governor, Timipre Sylva, begged the Abuja Division of the
Federal High Court to grant him leave to accompany his wife to the
United Kingdom to enable her to undertake a surgical operation.
Sylva who was recently granted administrated bail by the EFCC after
he was re-arrested in his Abuja residence over his alleged complicity in
a fresh allegation bothering on misappropriation and illegal diversion
of public funds whilst he was in power, Tuesday, told the high court
that Cromwell Hospital in London has already scheduled his wife for an
operation on May 31.
