Former Lagos State governor and All Progressives Congress
(APC)leader, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has described the ruling Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) 12-year rule as demonic.
Tinubu said this“ demon of the corrupt government in the last12 years must be chased out at the next election.”
In his speech at the 3rd convocation ceremony of the Kano University
of Science and Technology, Wudil where he was conferred with a doctorate
degree, honoris causa, Tinibu said the federal government had made more
Nigerians poorer, adding that the current high unemployment rate and
terror in the country caused by poor leadership of the PDP was no longer
acceptable.
The APC chief said; “There is no shame in wanting democracy to
flourish, there is no shame in wanting prosperity for all Nigerians,
there is no shame for anybody to be poor, but it’s a sin and
unacceptable to keep the people poor at the expense of their enormous
wealth.”
He therefore urged Nigerians, especially the youth to defeat poverty,
terror, crime, religious crisis and calls for regional divide as the
PDP national government was doing everything possible to divide the
country along regional lines, adding that, “We say no, the country must
triumph.”
He stressed that the political trends under the merger of APC had
shown the ability to reconstruct Nigeria into a big and proud country
and the political will to chase away the PDP demon.
“Nigerians are tied of complaining as the government at the center is
there for too long, and there is need for change. We must tighten our
belt, but not for corruption or disintegration of the country, rather
for the continuity and prosperity of the country,”he said.
Others awardees were the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk, a
minister in the Second Republic, Senator Hamisu Musa and a post-mortem
doctorate degree on literary icon, Malam Mudi Spikin.
