AWKA — MULTI-millionaire businessman and philanthropist, Prince
Arthur Eze, has thrown his weight behind an oil magnate, Mr. Ifeanyi
Ubah, in the latter’s quest to become the next governor of Anambra
State.
Ubah, the embattled chairman of Capital Oil and Gas Ltd, is
campaigning to succeed Governor Peter Obi in March next year on the
platform of the troubled All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
Though Eze is a card–carrying member of Peoples Democratic Party,
PDP, he said his decision to give his blessings to Ubah was because he
saw him as the most reliable person to govern Anambra State after Obi.
Eze’s endorsement of Ubah was made during the synod of the Awka
Diocese of Anglican Church being hosted by his (Eze’s) community church
at Ukpo in Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state.
Eze said he had been convinced on Ubah’s genuine intentions for
Anambra people and, therefore, there was need to give him necessary
support.
He observed that Ubah had consistently used his personal resources to
empower many people in the state, including the less privileged ones,
adding that such was the kind of person the state needed to be in
charge.
He said: “Whoever I say that will be governor of this state will be
the governor because most of these people you see are not interested in
the welfare of the people.”
Governor Peter Obi, who attended the synod, urged Anambra people to
pray for the state and for a good person to emerge after him, reminding
them that any mistake made during the forthcoming election would be
regretted.
