Kwankwaso appoints Buhari’s associate
Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso of Kano state has appointed the Director – General of The Buhari Campaign Organization, TBO, Alhaji Sule Yahaya Hamma, as chairman of the governing council of Northwest University, Kano.

A frontline politician, Alhaji Hamma was Secretary to the Government of Kano State under late Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Rimi, during the Second Republic. Other members of the council are Prof. Hafiz Abubakar, Hajiya Mariya Alin Kote, Prof. Yahuza Bello, Bala Ibrahim Birnin Kudu and Alhaji Garba Aliyu Gezawa. Inaugurating the council at the Government House, Kano, Governor Kwankwaso said Northwest University is gradually growing to a standard citadel of learning by fulfilling all NUC requirements. He explained that the setting up of the council is one of the statutory requirements for its establishment.
Governor Kwankwaso tasked the council to adhere to the rules and regulations establishing the university, adding that it is also mandated to elect the institution’s senate in line with conventional guidelines. He mandated the council to focus on quality teaching and learning in the university as well as the general wellbeing of students, stressing the need for the council to consider all the university communities in respect of policy formulations. In his remarks, Yahaya Hamma assured that the council will lead by example and abide by laws and regulations of the university. He thanked the governor for giving them the opportunity to serve.
Meanwhile, Governor Kwankwaso inaugurated the governing board of the Kano Reformatory Institute, chaired by the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Binta T. Jibril. Similarly, the governor signed into law the state Education Trust Fund bill. The fund, which will serve as an intervention scheme, will receive five percent of all internally generated revenue that accrues to the state government.
