Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, yesterday struck at the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
again, saying as a beautiful bride in the country’s political
landscape, he had never and will never be part of a party of rogues.
Rattled by the verbal bomb launched at it, the PDP had hit back at the comrade governor, claiming that he lacked the powers to criticise the party, having begged to join it several times.
The party’s attack on Oshiomhole, which was contained in a statement issued by its national publicitysecretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, followed the governor’s criticism of members of the ruling party on Tuesday, describing them as a bunch of rogues whose philosophy was to share money.
But speaking through his special adviser on media and public affairs, Prince Kassim Afegbua, Oshiomole said when the PDP “cannot sustain intellectual argument, they resort to name-calling and brandishing outright lies. What a pity.
“The comrade governor has continued to be a beautiful bride to all and sundry. He will never be part of a rogue party that has mis-managed the fortunes and opportunities of the country in very acquisitive manner by those who called themselves political chieftains and their cronies”, Afegbua stated.
A statement issued by Afegbua yesterday said: “The Comrade Governor is very, very pleased to be a member of the Action Congress of Nigeria and, by extension, the new APC, and will forever be grateful for having such a credible platform to display his unique leadership credentials.
“If the PDP is looking for a salesman like the comrade governor, they should formally apply rather than expressing its frustration in this dubious manner against a governor that has continued to turn down its entreaties.”
