After a crucial meeting which ended at about 11am Thursday, the
Management of Warri Wolves Football Club decided to give embattled
Nigerian Afcon 2013 hero, Sunday Mba a provisional release to Rangers
International Football Club so he can play this weekend’s CAF Champions
League match against Angola.
In a statement signed by the Media officer of the club, Moses Etu,
The Management said, “having actually listened to the pleas from well
meaning Nigerians, especially, the Nigeria Football Federation we wish
to state, for the avoidance of doubt, that Sunday Mba remains a player
of Warri Wolves and all financial and federating rights remain with
Warri Wolves.”
The club went further to say that what it was doing was “in the
interest of the nation and also, not to put the career of Mba in
jeopardy.”
The release letter was signed by the Secreatary of the club, Lawrence Omowho and sent to the Nigeria Football Federation.
However, Rangers flew out to Angola for a Champions League tie
Thursday without Super Eagles Afcon star Sunday Mba and Emeka Ezeh due
to a passport hassle.
Both players were on the final 18-man squad for this Saturday’s
Champions league third round second leg match against Recreativo Libolo,
but they were dropped at the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos Thursday
afternoon after the German embassy could not release their passports
submitted earlier by the NFF for Eagles training tour of Germany
