175 Prisoners Escape in Ondo Prison Break


The Medium Security Prison of The Nigeria Prisons Service located in Olokuta, along Ondo Road Akure, Ondo State Capital has been broken into leading to the escape of about 175 inmates.
According to the Controller of Prisons in Ondo State, Tunde Olayiwola the attackers arrived at about 12:05 armed with guns and explosives which they used to break the prison wall, which led to the escape of the inmates.

Former Super Eagles star, Thompson Oliha is dead

Former Super Eagles midfielder, Thompson Oliha is dead. A member of the 1994 African Nations Cup winning squad died Sunday morning.  Until his death, Oliha was one of the coaches at the Kwara State Football Academy in Ilorin. Late Oliha was aged 44.

JTF smashes Boko Haram group

The Joint Task Force in Yobe said on Saturday that it had smashed a Boko haram group in Fune, recovering two vehicles, arms, ammunition and other materials.
JTF spokesman, Lt. Lazarus Eli, said this in Damaturu while displaying the items to newsmen, News Agency of Nigeria reports.

Gunmen abduct three corps members in Rivers


THREE corps members were in the early hours of Saturday kidnapped by gunmen in Ogonokom Community Secondary School, Abua/Odua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Following threats of reprisals, Special Forces in Borno State have intensified their cordon-off and search operation in the last 72 hours leading to the arrest of 20 top leaders of Boko Haram.
The troops are also combing Maiduguri, Baga, Bama and Gwoza to fish out the insurgents.
But the Defence Headquarters has also put a control mechanism in place to check volunteers in Maiduguri trying to assist in trailing the insurgents.

FG gives Dana Airline 6 months to pay claims

 
THE Federal Government, on Thursday, gave Dana Air six months ultimatum to pay the claims of the families of the victims of the June 3, 2012 plane crash or face sanctions.
Minister of Aviation, Mrs Stella Oduah, gave the ultimatum at the 2013 ministerial platform in Abuja.
She said the airline had paid up to 60 per cent of the claims to the families, but experienced a delay due to double claims that needed to be clarified.
