PDP Calls For The Cancellation Of Oguta Re-Run Election



Voting at the Oguta state constituency rerun election has ended with a massive turn out of voters in the area who came out en masse to exercise their voting right.

Our imo state correspondent who monitored the election said voting started a little behind schedule due to late arrival of election materials by the INEC officials. However the INEC officials disclosed that the lateness was due to logistics problems encountered at the INEC headquarters in the state capital.
The candidate of the people’s Democratic Party in the election, Mr. Eugene Dibiagwu has called for a total cancellation of the election because of the irregularities and a sharp malpractice that has marred the election which was caused by the ruling party all progressives grand alliance.
He accused INEC officials and the security operatives of collaborating with the ruling party Apga to frustrate and disenfranchise his teaming supporters. He also accused them of snatching ballot boxes in some wards like Eziosu and Oguta ward.
Meanwhile, the candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Mr. Walter Uzowanne has debunked the allegations by the candidate of the PDP, he said rather it is the PDP supporters that has caused problems in some of the areas during the election, he also accused the PDP supporters of snatching ballot boxes especially in Izombe ward where his opponent Voted.
He called on INEC to cancel the votes from Izombe ward because the PDP supporters were seen stuffing ballot boxes.
He commended security operatives and INEC officials for proper conduct during the election. He said the allegations by the PDP that the security operatives and INEC officials are collaborating with the ruling party is a calculated attempt by the PDP to breed falsehood reports about the election since they are aware that they will lose the election.
Even has he expressed optimism that he will come out victorious in the election, he said if he loses, he will congratulate his opponent.
As votes as being counted at the collation centres, Oguta people are waiting to hear the overall winner of the election within the next 24 hours.
