My Only Regret As NAFDAC DG – Dora Akunyili

The former director-general(DG), National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control(NAFDAC), Prof Dora Akunyili, yesterday said her only regret during her tenure as head of the agency was her inability to establish a drug mart in the country.
The former NAFDAC DG and former minister of information who said this at the inauguration of the Bayelsa State drug mart in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, commended the state governor, Hon Seriake Dickson, for the initiative.
According to Dora Akunyili, though she  became known for revolutionising the fight against fake drugs, the inability of her team in NAFDAC to establish a drug mart right from when she became NAFDC DG has led to a chaotic and unregulated drug markets.
