NDLEA Arrests Businessman For Being In Possession Of Hard Drugs

Mr Mitchell Ofoyeju, spokesman, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), said that a suspected businessman was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos, in possession of 126 wraps of narcotics.
Ofoyeju, in a statement in Lagos on Tuesday, said that the suspect was arrested during inward screening of Qatar Airline passengers from Pakistan.

``The drug, which weighed 2. 225kg is the highest single ingestion since January 2013.

``Narcotic officials placed the suspect on observation when he tested positive to drug ingestion, `` Ofoyeju said.

The spokesman said that the 33-year-old suspect confessed during interrogation that "he sells electronics at Trade Fair Complex and Computer Village in Lagos.

``The suspect claimed that he was duped and he wanted to raise money from drug trafficking.

``He claimed he lost 11, 200 US Dollars about (N1.6 million) to fraudsters.

``The suspect claimed the loss affected his business and in the process of trying to get money to revamp the business, he was introduced into drugs.

``He claimed if he had succeeded, he would have been paid N1.8 million. He spent only one week in Pakistan to get the drugs.

``His only regret was his pregnant wife, who is due to put to bed soon, `` Ofoyeju quoted the suspect as saying.

He advised members of the public to shun the illegal business and report any suspected trafficker to the agency. (NAN)
