There was pandemonium as an articulate vehicle crashed into the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Jos.
The vehicle with registration EPL 756 XD crashed into the CBN building at 6:30 am and destroyed over 70 per cent of its goods.
The vehicle was packed on the road side leading to the CBN building
by the Plateau Teaching Hospital when it rolled and crashed into the
building.
An eyewitness said the driver was taking sleeping in the vehicle when
the incident occurred and all his efforts to ignite the vehicle proved
abortive.
The driver lost control as the steering and breaking system malfunctioned.
Although no life was lost in the incident, the trailer crashed into a
Peugeot car belonging to Kanke Local Government mass transit.
The trailer, which belonged to the Qualitec Aluminium Industry Ltd.,
conveyed goods from the company in Lagos to Alumetal Nigeria Ltd.,
handling the roofing work at the ongoing expansion of the CBN building.
The site engineer of Alumetal Nigeria ltd., Mr Musa Isiaka, said that
his company would not take responsibility for the incident as the goods
had not yet reached its destination.
According to him all we will do is to gather all the needed
information and send it to the trailer’s company in Lagos so as to make
them act fast.
“We are doing this because our company and theirs are partners in
business and the goods are from us; since we are on ground, if we don’t
assist, it won’t augur well,’’ Isiaka said.
An official of the apex bank, who pleaded anonymity, told NAN that the bank had urged the police to investigate the incident.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Felicia Anselem, confirmed the incident.
He promised that “no stone will be left unturned to get to the root cause of the incident. (NAN)
