Agbim and seven other local league players make the list for the Super Eagles trip to the Confederations Cup

Coach Stephen Keshi continued to make sure that the NPFL players are adequately represented in the Super Eagles squad to a major tournament

The Super Eagles squad list to the 2013 Fifa Confederations Cup was released on Thursday and included in the 23-man list are eight players who ply their trade in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
The NPFL produced six players for the triumphant Super Eagles team that won a third Nations Cup trophy for Nigeria in February. The players in that squad were Chigozie Agbim, Ejike Uzoenyi, Godfrey Oboabona, Reuben Gabriel, Azubuike Egwuekwe and Sunday Mba.
For this trip to Brazil, Coach Keshi has dropped both Uzoenyi and Gabriel; though both players transferred to European clubs after the Nations Cup win.
The team left Nairobi for South Africa on Friday after their 1-0 win over Kenya in a Group F World Cup qualifying match and will be in Namibia on Wednesday to try and consolidate their leadership of the group where they have eight points from four matches.
They will then proceed to Brazil where they have been grouped with Tahiti, Uruguay and World Champions, Spain. The Super Eagles’ first match is against Tahiti on July 17 at the Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte.
